Hold on. Are you telling me that Donald "Lock Her Up" Trump actually said:

"The new phenomenon of "headhunting" prosecutors and AGs—who try to take down their political opponents using the law as a weapon—is a threat to the very foundation of our liberty." Seriously?

I happen to agree with his sentiment - only difference is I agreed with it when he didn't, when he was screaming "lock her up" at his campaign rallies. Due process didn't seem very important to him back then, much less fear of looking like a 3rd world country.

So, I'm not relishing any of these legal actions against Trump. If he's guilty, so be it, and at least he is afforded all the due process that he seemed uninterested in when wanting to lock up his own rivals. Trump is entitled to all the protections afforded those under suspicion by our democratic institutions. If nothing else, maybe he will emerge with more appreciation for our democratic institutions.

Not that I'm holding my breath.
